(no subject) [Aug. 22nd, 2006|08:18 pm]
School is in full swing.
started on the 7th. SO EARLY.

i have been on a diet for the last 2 wks (this being my 3rd) i have lost a total of 5.5 lbs.
so i am happy w/ that

though these past couple of days i have not been doing so good... though i still work out--today did 50 minutes on the elliptical.
think i might change to doing that for the next couple of weeks (stop doing the total gym for a bit)

i do see a difference in my body though (from working out)

new people across the street.
5 kids (holy cow!) but REALLY nice
and one of the kids is in DD's class.
i LOVE our neighborhood.

this tour is like a dream and i will be SO SAD to leave.

my parents come in Oct.
CAN NOT WAIT.

and my girlfriend comes the end of sept.
and i will have a little cocktail party for her--
i need to be figuring out what finger foods to cook...
k
just thought i would update

i am ALL extra tired

might just go to bed early tonight.

K
so we have done little things here and there. Went to Point Pinos Lighthouse and to the tidepools (where i lost my camera lens) which bummed me out--i knew where it was, but i wasn't about to stick my hand inbetween giant rocks that had crabs in them and lord knows whatelse.
but
i got a replacement for only 10 bucks INCLUDING a strap thing that keeps the lense cover on the strap when in use (i know i didn't explain that right)
but
no more lost lense covers.
should have had one w/ the original--i did like my leica lense cap cover--the one i have now is generic. but at least it protects my lense.

so crisis averted.

we've gone to the beach--which is something i never thought we'd do in this neck of the woods. but we go fairly regulalry. it is really fun and something the whole family likes to do.

we had a classmates of Ab's over w/ her mom and sister (new divorced)
which was OK.
the little sister was such a brat i wanted to kick her out of the house. it was the mother's idea to eat--AND she asked for a specific date--so it was impossible (W/out being rude) to get out of...

and then
last night our good friends came over and stayed until 12:45. LATE when you have kids! but it was very fun.
the husbands have followed a VERY similar career.
we are all from IA
the husbands went to the same University for a sememster (mine then transferred to the U of I)
and then we met in Norfolk, VA
and then stayed friends through until we have met up again at the same duty station.
(the guys are now both in grad school at the Navy Postgrad school)

so it will be a fun year (we have been here for 6 months already)

and then
tomorrow we go to S.F.
which i can't wait.

will see my cousin, whom i haven't seen in ages.

Big Sur/ Father's Day/ "tramp" [Jun. 18th, 2006|11:44 pm]
Father's Day today.

didn't do anything too extra special. but it was still a nice day.
made breakfast (as usual) and had ribs and homemade cornbread tonight for dinner.

a neighbor who is PCS-ing gave us a small trapopline (about 6 ft across) w/ mesh siding. it is PERFECT for the girls to jump, but too small to do gymnastics (just the way i like it)
b/c it CAN be so dangerous--this is a great compromise.
and if it gets too crazy
we will just pass it along.

though i do remember "jumping" at my best friend's house regularly... i was talking to my parents today--and they DID NOT know my best friend had a trampoline.
LOL
i was over there ALL the time (back in the day when kids could just roam)
and besides eating her sugar cereal--we would jump.

drove down to Big Sur on Friday.
BEAUTIFUL.
totally amazing

though i have to admit
the entire way S. i was SOOOOOOOOO nervous about going over.
not that hubby is a crazy driver at all
just heard so many horror stories, i was on edge.

driving back home though, was totally fine.

i am getting all my pictures up on my gallery.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
almost up to date.

can't wait to go to S.F. in two wks.
really excited about that.

say what one wants about the Navy
but i LOVE the traveling it affords us.
been to many a wonderful place.

So.
can't remember when i last wrote.

did i say we went to see a movie, "cars" w/ one of our friends and kid?
that was fun

movies aren't what they used to be.
popcorn
and MAYBE some nachos.

though i used to get taco bell and sneak it into the movies.
that was pure heaven.

now adays
one can get starbucks (though i don't drink coffee) icees, pretzels, ICE CREAM and shakes--
it is out of control.

they need to just put a McD's in the theater and be done w/ it.

i got a carrot cake that was GOOD.

---

today
ran around doing the dentist thing.
6 month check up for the oldest kid.
had to go get the wires off her braces
(was isn 35 mins of traffic, which is A LOT here)
and then to the appt.
after the appt. went and ate B.K. w/ thier dad (my husband)
then back to the ortho to put back on the wires.

no cavaties.
so we are all up to date w/ our 6 months (i take them twice a yr religiously and we floss and do all that stuff--espeically if we are paying for braces--not gonna have a mouth full of cavaties w/ straight teeth...)

and then to the park.

then home for a nap.

tommorrow we are driving to carmel (no big drive) to see the sunset.

never seen a western sunset from the ocean.

seen them from the east coast and from the gulf.

but will be interesting to see it from the W.

can't wait to go to S.F. in a couple weeks.

Hurricanes [Jun. 12th, 2006|08:34 pm]
K
just had to add a quick post about the upcoming Hurricane season.

UGH
is all i can say

having been through 3 -- evactuated for 2 INCLUDING Katrina.
i can only feel for these people.

the whole season SUCKS

i honestly don't know how people do it year after year.
i did it for 2 season on the Gulf Coast of MS and 1 season and 4 seasons in VA--but only 1 hurricane--the only one i ever stayed for at a Cat 3.

anyway

my thoughts are w/ the people in harms way
it really is devastating to all those involved.

now i am in earthquake territory.
though i haven't felt one in the 6 months i've been here.

while living in Japan
i felt them every 4 or 5 days.
was always a jolt and adrinaline rush. was "fun" b/c nothing ever happened.

was in one Cat 1 hurricane there too~(but was "nothing")

Aqaurium again [Jun. 12th, 2006|08:09 pm]
so
worked out this A.M. (yeah! my fourth wk) did my total gym AND my elliptical machine.

but then also went to McD's and had a hamburger and apple pie and a half :)
i have always said that the reason i work out is to eat
and i prove that right everysingle day!
as i type and drink some merlot!

so in the shower i decided to take the kids to the aqaurium.

was perfect

got in w/ our memberships
and have a parking pass

so everything was FREE!

best kind of day.

i need to get to Carmel Misson church here soon.
and i want to walk along the P.G. boardwalk

has been overcast
so i don't feel like getting out as much though~

ordered pizza
was OK
only had one piece

feasted on watermelon instead.

ITUNES [Jun. 11th, 2006|11:25 pm]
so
my goal before the end of summer is to have my Itunes totally updated.
which is easier said than done--considering i have over 55 gigs of music.
sigh
and i keep d/l-ing...

also
i want to get my picture up dated too.

so much stuff to do on my 'puter--so little time.

so
did nothing these last two days.
which i love.
favorite days :)

no plans tomorrow except to work out and take the kids to a park for a bit.

Monterey Aquarium [Jun. 9th, 2006|01:13 am]
So we went today as planned.

it was a super nice visit and wasn't very busy.
of course there were a lot of people--BUT one was able to be at an exhibit w/out a ton of people in the way
consequently--i was alble to get some good pictures (currently being uploaded and sorted)

i love the aquarium and must go more often
especially since it is "free."

made pizza today
and my crust turned out EXCELLENT i must say.
so that is my new recipe.

basically the only difference was sugar.

was kind of cold today
doesn't feel like summer.

got the kids to bed LATE tonight--but that is OK it is summer and we ALL get to sleep in tomorrow.

i am up 2 hours past my usual bed time.
that is what a late nap will do.

can't wait to go to SF in a couple of weeks.

and am in my 3rd wk of working out.
going to get my total gym out tomorrow and get back on track w/ that.

been AGES

always a SPACE issue more than anything...

had a couple to drink tonight... so not feeling completly coherent... ;)

P.G. [Jun. 7th, 2006|10:01 pm]
K
so i figure i should use this thing--
i will just use it like a blog--

busy day today--

daughter had an ortho appt. and took her to that.
and my other one (little one) and i went walking around P.G. and took pictures.
it is SO PRETTY there
totally beautiful.

then i had Thai food for lunch
YEAH

but it was only so so
not enough "sauce" (as my fav. Thai place calls it)
and not nearly as spicy as i can take it

but the prices were decent
and they were BUSY
so i will go back and try something else.

then took the kids to the park.
sat and read intermittenly while following them around

and then
TRIED to get their hair cut

but when i got there -- thier 3:30 appt. was going to be 2 hrs LATER

so i canceled
and now have to find somewhere else to go.

then my little one fell asleep in the car
brought her in
and we both took a nap.

cooked chicken wings for dinner (family favorite)

and homemade cookies after that.

tomorrow is the aquarium...
so more pictures! and another post.

until then.
